1) Rachel Young- She is a senior at the Guilderland High School and is very talented in the arts; singing, dancing, etc. She has done dance and singing since she was younger and has only gotten much better since then. Now she is playing the female lead in the musical, Tracy Turnblad, and we couldn't have asked for better. She is a great friend, actress, dancer, singer, and overall she's a great person. I want to give Ms. Young high praise for working hard and giving it 110% all the time. She's great and I look up to her and stride to have even just a fraction of her talent.
2) Kristi Yamaguchi-
She is an ice skater. Ice skating takes a lot of courage and physical ability. I wish I had Kristi's courage and ability to create a beautiful work of art through skating using only her body, skates, and the cold ice.
3) "Weird" Al Yankovic-
He is an american singer that makes parodies of contemporary radio hits.
"His lyrics depend largely on the satirizing of popular culture including television, movies, food, music, and news stories. Though parodies earned him his fame, Yankovic has recorded a greater number of humorous songs with original tunes." http://www.mysticgames.com/famouspeople/WeirdAlYankovic.htm
I wish I had even a fraction of his musical creativity. The songs are cheesy, instead they sound great!
4) Tyler Yates- He "is a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball currently playing with the Richmond Braves, Triple A Affiliate of the Atlanta Braves." But first he attended the University of Hawaii so he would have a back-up plan if the whole baseball career did not work out. I admire is planning, and realistic views, his drive to chase his dreams, and his great athleticism. http://www.mysticgames.com/famouspeople/TylerYates.htm
5) Yanni- He is a musician that "prefers to call his music "contemporary instrumental." I am impressed by his work and envious of his opportunity to perform in front of a large audience.
http://www.mysticgames.com/famouspeople/Yanni.htm
6) Burt Young- He is a "talented character actor who has remained consistently busy playing "rough at the edge" type characters, often on the wrong side of the law. Young was known as "Jerry De Louise" before becoming an actor, in New York City, where he received his dramatic arts training under legendary acting coach Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio." I am impressed by his work and envious of his opportunity to perform and create great pieces of work with the use of acting.

7) Henny Youngman- "(Henry Youngman, March 16, 1906 - February 24, 1998) was a comedian and violinist famous for "one-liners", short simple jokes usually delivered rapid-fire. His best known one-liner is "Take my wife—please." I wish I was funny...that is all that needs to be said.
http://www.mysticgames.com/famouspeople/HennyYoungman.htm
8) Stephen Marvin Young- He "was an American politician of the Democratic Party from Ohio. He was a United States Senator from Ohio from 1958 until 1970. Young received a law degree from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1911." I think it's great that he had such a successful career involved in politics, it is truly impressive. And I am envious of him because I just want to get on with my successful career already.

Right now at this very moment the beautiful country known as Greece is going through an economic crisis, "Stocks in Europe lost gains ahead of the meeting on worries over delays to the bailout deal. In Athens, the main share index was down 5 percent." The Government is working on a Greek bail-out and a healthy way of budget cutting. Now Why is budget- cutting so important? "Without it, the country would not be eligible for a euro130 billion ($170 billion) bailout from other countries in Europe and the International Monetary Fund. Greece needs the money ahead of a euro14.5 billion ($19.2 billion) bond deadline on March 20 and to strike a vital debt-relief deal with bond investors." And then if Greece begins to miss payments then a dominos effect could occur and Greece could spin off into great debt. With such great debt Greece will not be able to feed its people and they will starve. And in the end starvation leads to disease or death. Overall Greece is in a tough time and in tough times "Greek poets have used the peculiar power of a precise language to stir souls, plumb the depths of humanity, and stoke resistance against invaders and occupiers." One poem that has emerged is Words Again by Patrikios, a greek poet.
This poem is about speaking up and not waiting to speak until i is too late,
"Yet the unspoken words beneath the tongue
the only ones that don’t emerge from your mouth
they too gnaw from within
leaving shrivelled corpses
of people who tried to speak
when it was too late."
Greece is going through tough times and instead of ignoring that fact the Greek have decided to take care of the problem.
That is different from us in he sense that Americans just like to print money to solve all of our economic problems, but hey I mean if the Great Depression doesn't mean anything to you then sure hyperinflation is out of question- but news flash, IT DID HAPPEN! And hyper inflation is something that we have to worry about.

WORDS AGAIN
Words in their thousands pour out of dictionaries
as soon as you open them
like ants, black, red, white,
when you step on an ant-hill.
How can you find, how can you choose
amid the conflation of words
the only one that fits,
how can you escape from the others
that stick to your body in swarms
struggling to survive.
Yet the unspoken words beneath the tongue
the only ones that don’t emerge from your mouth
they too gnaw from within
leaving shrivelled corpses
of people who tried to speak
when it was too late.
As long as I’m able
to combine even two words
I exist.
as soon as you open them
like ants, black, red, white,
when you step on an ant-hill.
How can you find, how can you choose
amid the conflation of words
the only one that fits,
how can you escape from the others
that stick to your body in swarms
struggling to survive.
Yet the unspoken words beneath the tongue
the only ones that don’t emerge from your mouth
they too gnaw from within
leaving shrivelled corpses
of people who tried to speak

Valentine's Day
Complete this sentence: "I know _he_ loves me because ...."
I know he loves me because...
He says "Hey" to me first, because he is the one that I always catch glancing at me. I know he loves me because his smiles are the biggest when I am around, because he's always happier and brighter with me. I know he loves me because his eyes look deep into my innocent soul, because he accepts me for who I am. I know he loves me because that deep singing voice of his sings for only me, because the words speak of my name. I know he loves me because I make him better in so many ways, because he needs it, he needs me. I know he loves me because my heart races when he enters the room, because I smile at every thought of him. I know he loves me because every moment of everyday is spent wanting to see him, because I know he loves me. I know he loves me because there is no way he cannot, because I love him.

Dreams are lined up against the wall
Dreams are lined up against the wall
One by one,
Some ridiculous, others realistic
as we grow older,
dreams begin to fadeinto the deep abyss
of the wanted past
our destinies undecided
our futures like labyrinths
turn a corner with no idea
what will come next,
surprises at every turn
mystery
outcomes either good or bad
its our future, destiny, dreams
we can always make a decision
and control them-
to a certain extent

Comic Connection
This relates to a conversation I was having with one of my friends earlier in the week (and relates to my life directly because I am obviously a girl, that has to deal with sexist immature teenage boys on a day to day basis- Lucky Me!) I really just do not understand why men cannot stand to be called women, like it is some horrible insult. Like you automatically become less of a man. I find it truly insulting. They are suggesting that women are what, weak? Women are just as strong as men, maybe even stronger. And we really have no complaints when we are compared to a guy, at school girls have "guy day" where teams dress up in guys clothes for the day. When men are insulted by being called women it expresses the fact that they feel embarrassed by us females, and feel we are subordinate. It took until the mid-1900s just for Suffragettes to win the right for women to vote. Why weren't we given the right to vote in the first place? maybe because we belong in the kitchen? Its wrong! Let's remember that there wouldn't even be a human race if it wasn't for u women just doing our job by repopulating. Men need us, whether they like it or not. And the sooner they learn to appreciate us the sooner we will stick around and stop being the typical nagging wives that men make us out to be. Today women are working; in factories, hospitals, offices, business corporations, etc. More women are receiving educations and getting highly successful jobs today then ever before. We ARE making and impact. We were all made equal and women are a finally rising up to grasp that concept and show the stubborn egotistical men who really is boss.

Don’t try harder. Do harder!
MY HIGH SCHOOL GRADES HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE! To me they are never good enough, I am literally embarrassed by them. I have finally found the perfect college, that I dream of going to and I am embarrassed to give them my grades. I don't want them to turn me down. They are looking for extraordinary and right now, I'm less than ordinary in that department. So the way I see it is I need to take my failures as a motivator to "DO HARDER!" because try harder obviously wasn't enough. I want the Stanford dean to look at my file and say we NEED her. I want to be there! Studying medicine in California is like a dream that I don't only want, but I NEED. I want it so bad that I NEED to work harder to achieve greatness or I will not be getting into Stanford and the rest of my life I will just be wishing and thinking what if?
